World renowned Persian Rug artist, Hossein Rezvani makes his debut at Art Basel, with a stand-alone installation within the Flaunt Magazine, De Pury De Pury and Goga Ashkenazi group exhibition – “Weather Patterns” at the world-class destination, The New World Center, Miami Beach on November 29th 2016 during Art Basel.
Seen as the re-inventor of the Persian rug, Rezvani is an artist and designer pioneering a 21st century approach to his art, whilst protecting and preserving the legendary traditions and timeless manufacturing techniques that have placed Persian carpets amongst the worlds greatest symbols of finery and taste.
Rezvani was chosen for inclusion in the show due to the all natural and eco-friendly processes used in the age-old tradition of Persian carpet making, married with a design sensibility mirrored by today’s leading contemporary artists. The installation will feature video elements as well as a physical piece designed to resonate with the show theme.
The one-night, invite-only event will also include a performance by Viktoria Modesta in the symphony hall. Exhibiting video artists include: Marina Abramovic, Doug Aitken, Ed Atkins, Darren Almond, Heike Baranowsky, Jon Horowitz, Antti Laitinen, Jon Rafman, Rachel Rose, Tomas Saraceno, Fiona Tan, and Wolfgang Tillmans.
All artworks within the show concern climate change, temporality, and natural elements. „Weather Patterns“ is curated by Goga Ashkenazi, Matthew Bedard, and Simon and Michaela de Pury.
